Illinois State University was founded in 1857 as Illinois State Normal University, making it the state’s oldest university. It gained its current name in 1967 and is still based in Normal, Illinois. Numerous volunteer and service opportunities are presented to students all year round so students can develop their leadership skills and make a difference in the world.
