About University of Derby

The University of Derby dates back to 1851 with the founding of the Derby Diocesan Institution for the Training of Schoolmistresses. After merging with other colleges, it had become the Derby Lonsdale College of Higher Education by 1977 and it gained university status in 1992. There are 19,000 students, including 1,700 international students from over 100 countries.The university is in the top 800 globally according to the Times Higher Education rankings.
