PhD Body, Place, and Identity History

Course Overview This doctoral concentration employs thematic fields to explore the complex connections between historical actors and their communities through the methodologies of cultural and social history. It treats bodies, places, and identities as fluid, mutually constituted categories that change over time. Students will learn to critically analyze the production of historical knowledge and are encouraged to consider the significance of their scholarship across multiple intellectual fields.
