Course Overview The English Teacher’s Certificate Program (TCP) prepares future educators to teach English and Language Arts at either the middle school (grades 5-9) or high school (grades 7-12) level. This Bachelor of Science program offers a structured path to Michigan teacher certification or a non-certification Education degree. Guided by academic advisors, students progress through three distinct phases of coursework and practical field experience. Key Program Highlights Dual certification pathway for grades 5-9 and/or 7-12 Structured three-phase progression with dedicated academic advising Extensive field experience with a minimum of 180-420+ hours in local schools Option to pursue a degree with or without state teacher certification Practical, semester-long student teaching placements arranged by the department
