Course Overview This Bachelor of Arts program prepares graduates to teach social science in California's middle and high schools by providing comprehensive subject matter competency. The curriculum is directly aligned with the state's History-Social Science Framework and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requirements. Graduates will develop advanced analytical, research, and communication skills while gaining essential classroom observation experience. Key Program Highlights Earn a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing-approved degree that waives the CSET exam requirement for the single subject credential. Gain hands-on teaching experience through required classroom observation and mentoring hours integrated into the curriculum. Explore diverse perspectives with a curriculum emphasizing equity, access, and cultural understanding, including dedicated Ethnic Studies coursework. Develop expertise across all required domains: World History, U.S. History, California History, American Government, Economics, and Geography. Complete a capstone teaching assessment course (HIST 404) to synthesize learning and prepare for credential program admission.
