Course Overview The African American Studies B.A. at Ohio University is an interdisciplinary program dedicated to the exploration of African American life, culture, and history. Established in 1969, the department prepares students for impactful careers and advanced study by fostering social responsibility and critical problem-solving skills for engagement in both American and global society. Key Program Highlights One of the few dedicated African American Studies departments in the state of Ohio with a rich history dating back to 1969. Interdisciplinary curriculum with focused tracks in Art/Music/Media, History, and Law/Political Science/Race. Preparation for diverse careers in social service, education, law, communications, public policy, and advocacy.
