Course Overview The Honors Tutorial College program in Classics and Religious Studies offers a rigorous, personalized curriculum for highly motivated students to master the languages, literature, and material culture of Greek and Roman antiquity. Working one-on-one with a faculty tutor, students develop expert research, writing, and independent thinking skills through a tailored course of study. This intensive program prepares graduates for advanced study and diverse careers by providing a deep, multifaceted understanding of the classical world. Key Program Highlights One-on-one weekly tutorials with a dedicated faculty advisor to explore specialized topics and conduct original research. Choice between two distinct tracks: Classical Languages & Literature or Classical Civilization, each with tailored requirements. Development and defense of a substantial senior thesis project of at least 10,000 words over two semesters. Exemption from standard university general education requirements, allowing for a focused, in-depth course of study. Access to a comprehensive curriculum including philology, archaeology, ancient history, and participation in the Classics Colloquium with faculty and visiting scholars.
