Course Overview Our graduate research programs in Film and Visual Studies offer a unique opportunity to pursue a PhD or MPhil through either critical scholarship or creative practice. We champion innovative, cross-disciplinary research that engages with the evolving landscape of screen-based media and cultures. Students are supported by a dedicated supervisory team to develop their original projects, culminating in a thesis or a creative work with a critical component. Key Program Highlights Choose between two distinct PhD routes: Critical Practice for theoretical/historical research or Creative Practice for filmmaking and screenwriting. Pursue cross-disciplinary projects that integrate with other areas within the School of Arts, English, and Languages. Research specialized areas like animation, documentary, screen industries, world cinema, or sound design. Receive dedicated supervision and support for both full-time and part-time study options. Complete a significant, original contribution to the field, whether a written thesis or a body of creative work.
