Course Overview This program prepares future educators for a professional license to teach in elementary grades 1-6, with a specialized focus on bilingual and bicultural education. You will gain the state approval or endorsement required to excel in Spanish/English-bilingual classrooms while deepening your understanding of Hispanic cultures and the Spanish language. Key Program Highlights Earn a professional educator's license for elementary grades 1-6 with a bilingual/bicultural focus. Complete a yearlong teaching internship in a bilingual classroom within a Chicago-area Professional Development School (PDS). Gain certification to teach in both bilingual and standard English-speaking elementary classrooms. Develop deep proficiency in Spanish language and Hispanic cultural knowledge. Opportunity to earn an ESL endorsement or a minor in Spanish.
