Course Overview

The Computing degree equips you with the expertise and skills needed for the practical application of computing to areas typically found in industry. A solid grounding in object oriented coding, software development, computer systems and networking are delivered alongside modules in human computer interaction, artificial intelligence, databases and web development, to prepare students for a wide range of future careers in a changing workplace environment. Over half of the students in our school choose to embark upon a Year in Industry after the second year, giving them valuable work experience, a salary, and often a good job offer upon graduation. Our final year contains a range of exciting optional modules taught by subject specialist lecturers in areas such as e-commerce, eHealth, signal and data analysis, neural computation, semantic web and computational intelligence. These specialists comprise internationally-renowned researchers, as well as authors of textbooks used around the world. Another option is Kent IT Consultancy (KITC), which offers to train students to become an IT Consultant through providing a real computing support consultancy service to local businesses.
